"2020" celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Leach Pottery established by the two eminent potters; Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada in 1920. St Ives and Mashiko signed the agreement for official friendship in 2012 and a delegation from Mashiko Town including the mayor and Tomoo Hamada visited the UK to attend receptions celebrating the 5th anniversary of the official friendship in September 2017. The receptions took place at the Guildhall in St Ives and the Embassy of Japan in London. From the Leach Family, John, Jeremy and Philip Leach came to St Ives and the gathering of "Leach and Hamada" realised.

Gallery St Ives is having an exhibition for work by potters of the Leach and Hamada families whose relationship is getting more and more intimate towards the 2020. The exhibition catalogue with calendar for 2018 is done shown as the online catalogue. We will post you the printed catalogue/calendar if you email us your name and postal address and pay postage by PayPal for overseas address.
